Hi hi!! We’re trying to plan return to campus and it’s turning into a spreadsheet. Student lives on campus (Muir). We arrive Sat Jan 3 and want to unload ASAP. The housing calendar says move-in begins at 12 noon, but what does that actually mean in practice? If we get there at 10:30am do we sit in a line? Also are there carts available, or should we bring our own collapsible cart
To ensure a smooth move-in experience at UCSD's Muir College, it's important to understand the logistics surrounding the designated move-in time.
Move-In Timing The housing calendar indicates that move-in begins at 12 noon, which means you should not expect to check in or start unloading until that time. Arriving at 10:30 AM may lead to waiting in line, as the university requests that students adhere to their scheduled time to manage traffic effectively. According to the Muir Residential Life office, "If you are earlier than your scheduled move-in time, we cannot accommodate your move-in until your scheduled date and time. No exceptions will be made" Muir College.
Carts for Unloading Carts are available for student use but are limited in number and must be returned within a specified time frame (typically 60 minutes). They require collateral, such as a driver's license or credit card, to borrow. To avoid potential delays and ensure a more efficient unloading process, it is highly recommended to bring your own collapsible cart or dolly if possible. This will help you bypass long lines for university carts and the stress of time limits during your move-in day.
