If a student has accommodations (OSD), do they need to re-request them every quarter or do they carry automatically into Winter
At UC San Diego, accommodations provided by the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) do not automatically transfer from one quarter to the next. Each quarter, students are required to re-request their accommodations to receive a new Authorization for Accommodation (AFA) letter for their courses.
Requesting Accommodations To initiate the process, students should contact their assigned OSD Disability Specialist or use the general OSD email at osd@ucsd.edu as soon as they register for classes for the upcoming quarter. Additionally, students can log into the My OSD Student Portal to review and accept their approved accommodations for each specific course.
Important Considerations
- Accommodations are not retroactive; they only take effect once the AFA letter is issued and distributed.
- It is recommended that students request their accommodations at least 20 business days before the quarter begins to ensure timely processing.
- Students are also responsible for discussing their accommodations with their instructors during the first two weeks of the quarter to ensure proper implementation.
