What happens to packages sent over break?
During the winter break at UCLA, package handling varies depending on whether you reside on-campus or in university apartments.
On-Campus Residents (The Hill)
For students living on-campus, the Housing Mail Center typically holds packages until you return for the winter quarter. They generally allow a 14-day hold before returning items to the sender, but this period is often extended during the winter break. The On-Campus Housing Central Mail Room operates under modified hours:
- Monday – Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Closed: December 24-25 and December 31-January 1.
University Apartment Residents
For residents of Graduate & Family Housing, packages are not accepted at the rental offices. You must arrange for direct delivery with the courier or utilize services like USPS Hold Mail for up to 30 days. For those in Weyburn Terrace and Hilgard, the Laurel Mail Center will manage deliveries with the following hours:
- Monday – Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Closed: December 24, 25, 31, and January 1.
