When can students move back onto the Hill after winter break?

Students returning to on-campus housing at UCLA may move back onto the Hill beginning on Saturday, January 3, 2026. This date is set before the start of instruction on Monday, January 5, 2026.

New Students

New students with a winter/spring term contract can arrive starting on Sunday, January 4, 2026. This is the earliest arrival date without needing to submit an early arrival request.

Early Arrival Requests

If students need to return earlier than their assigned date (between December 26, 2025, and January 2, 2026), they must submit an Early Arrival request through the UCLA Housing StarRez portal. Note that an additional fee of $50 per night applies during this period, and meals are not included.

Meal Plans

The contracted meal plan for the winter quarter will commence with dinner on Sunday, January 4, 2026, for those returning on that date. Returning residents in undergraduate university apartments do not need to move out during winter break and have continuous access to their units.

Hi May daughter missed her UC Shape training and now they put a hold on her enrollment. The SHAPE office said it's an automatic update and there is nothing they can do to expedite it. The regsitrar says there is nothing they can do either. She will miss her window of enrollment. Is there anyone else who can help?
