Where do swipes work? Also my son says they are getting rid of food trucks on the hill?? Why
At UCLA, meal swipes are accepted at various locations, primarily on the Hill and select ASUCLA-operated restaurants during specific hours.
Where Swipes Work
- On-Hill Dining Locations: All on-Hill dining facilities accept meal swipes during any meal period, including:
- All-You-Care-To-Eat Dining Halls: Rieber, De Neve Plaza, and Sunset Village.
- Boutique Eateries: Bruin Café, Café 1919, The Study at Hedrick, The Drey, Rendezvous, Bruin Bowl, and Epicuria at Ackerman.
- ASUCLA Restaurants: Swipes are valid at specific ASUCLA locations during weekday lunch hours (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), with a fixed value of $10.00.
- Food Trucks: Currently, swipes are accepted at food trucks on the Hill, but this is subject to change as they are being phased out.
UCLA Dining is reducing food trucks on the Hill primarily due to:
- Improved Staffing Levels: Initially introduced during the pandemic, food trucks are no longer necessary as staffing has stabilized.
- Focus on Residential Dining: The university aims to enhance the student dining experience within residential restaurants.
- Support for Internal Operations: Limiting swipe exchanges to university-operated restaurants ensures meal plan funds support UCLA students and staff rather than external vendors.
