I have a prospective hs student. We submitted UC app by Dec 1 and now it’s the waiting game. Are there any follow-ups UCLA expects (portals, supplemental forms, updates) or is it literally wait until March
Once the UC application is submitted by the December 1 deadline, prospective students should prepare for a waiting period until March, but there are several important follow-up steps to consider.
Applicant Portal Setup By January, UCLA will send an email inviting applicants to create a username and password for the UCLA applicant portal (MyApplication Status). This portal is crucial as it will display official admission decisions, financial aid information, and any requests for additional documentation.
Supplemental Materials Most majors do not require supplemental materials; however, if your student applied to a specialty school, they must submit additional forms or portfolios. For example:
- School of the Arts and Architecture: Supplemental applications required.
- Herb Alpert School of Music: Supplemental applications required.
- School of Nursing: Supplemental applications required.
- School of Theater, Film and Television: Supplemental applications for certain majors were due by December 9, 2025.
Reporting Changes If there are significant changes to the student's senior year schedule or grades, they should notify UCLA through their Contact Form. Updates to contact information can be made directly in the UC Application.
Admission Decision Timeline Most freshman applicants will receive their admission decision in late March 2026, and the results will be posted on the UCLA applicant portal. Note that UCLA does not offer Early Action or Early Decision, so all regular applicants are notified simultaneously.
