When do seniors order the grad gear? and is it able to be covered by financial aid? I heard the diploma itself is at least like 40 bucks
Graduation gear for UCLA seniors, including caps, gowns, and sashes, is available for order starting in late February or early March. Students should keep an eye on their UCLA email for announcements regarding the ASUCLA Grad Fair, which usually takes place in February.
Ordering Timeline
- Regalia (Cap, Gown, Tassel): Orders generally begin in late February or early March. For example, in 2025, orders started on February 28.
- Sashes: Custom sashes can be pre-ordered as early as January, often with discounts available (30% off in January, 20% in February).
- Where to Order: Orders can be placed online through the UCLA Store's Graduation Etc. website or in person at the A-level of Ackerman Union.
While traditional financial aid packages cover the overall cost of attendance, they do not specifically allocate funds for graduation regalia. Therefore, students typically need to pay for these items out-of-pocket or use their personal expense allowance from their financial aid. However, the first paper diploma is included in the one-time document fee paid at the start of the UCLA career, so there is no additional charge for that.
