How does the process for summer sessions housing work? Also it any different for an international student? Is it still through ucla housing or is it through the dashew center also? Any insights would be great!!
UCLA summer sessions housing is exclusively managed by UCLA Housing, not the Dashew Center. Both domestic and international students follow a similar application process, but international students have additional requirements related to their visa status.
Application Process
- Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in summer courses and at least 17 years old by June 22, 2026, for residence halls; 18 years old for University Apartments.
- Application Timeline: The housing application typically opens in mid-May 2026, and students must be enrolled in courses to access the application through the UCLA Housing Portal.
- Contracts: Available for various durations (3, 6, 8, 9, 10, or 12 weeks) to align with summer sessions.
- Payment: Charges are billed through the BruinBill account.
- International students must enroll full-time (minimum 8 units) to obtain an F-1 visa.
- The Dashew Center does not manage housing but is responsible for issuing I-20 forms and managing check-ins.
- Most international students opt for on-campus housing for convenience or may choose off-campus options.
