Is pilot soccer still a thing at pegasus? Our older one did it, and we'd like to get our younger one into it also

Pilot Soccer, associated with the Newport Mesa Soccer Classic (formerly the Daily Pilot Cup), remains a vibrant part of The Pegasus School's athletic offerings. While your older child participated, you can certainly get your younger child involved as well.

Eligibility and Enrollment

  • The tournament is open to students in Grades 3–6.
  • Enrollment is contingent upon family interest and parent volunteers. Watch for communications from the school regarding the need for a Lead Parent Volunteer to help organize teams and manage registrations.
Alternative Options for Younger Children

If your child is not yet in 3rd grade, there are other soccer opportunities available:

  • After-School Programs: Seasonal soccer classes for younger students can be registered through the Pegasus After-School Programs page.
  • Developmental Sports League (DSL): Available for Grades 4–6 as part of the standard athletics curriculum.
  • Pre-K/Kindergarten Soccer: Specialized sessions for ages 3–5 may be offered through partners like CORE Athletics.
Important Dates

  • Registration for winter after-school programs typically opens in mid-November.
  • Applications for the 2026–2027 academic year generally close by January 1.
  • Camp Pegasus, which includes soccer for students entering Pre-K through 8th grade, is also available during the summer.

How does academic accomodations work? Do we have to apply, or do they already do an assessment. We think out son may have ADHD so anything helps. Thx!!

At The Pegasus School, academic accommodations are structured through a Pegasus Education Plan (PEP), which is tailored for students with diagnosed learning needs, including ADHD.

Application Process

Parents must initiate the process by:

  • Submitting a Written Request: This request should be directed to both the Division Director and the Educational Psychologist, specifying the accommodations needed.
  • Providing Documentation: Reasonable documentation from a qualified medical provider is required, and parents are encouraged to include results from any external assessments.
Collaborative Assessment

After receiving the documentation, the school may arrange a meeting with the family to discuss potential accommodations. The determination of accommodations is made on a case-by-case basis, ensuring they align with the student's individual needs without altering the fundamental nature of the school's programs.

Support Services

The Pegasus School offers:

  • A formalized Pegasus Education Plan (PEP) for documenting accommodations.
  • Access to learning specialists who provide targeted support.
For further assistance, parents can contact the Educational Psychologist at The Pegasus School for detailed guidance on the PEP process and documentation requirements.
