How does academic accomodations work? Do we have to apply, or do they already do an assessment. We think out son may have ADHD so anything helps. Thx!!
At The Pegasus School, academic accommodations are structured through a Pegasus Education Plan (PEP), which is tailored for students with diagnosed learning needs, including ADHD.
Application Process
Parents must initiate the process by:
- Submitting a Written Request: This request should be directed to both the Division Director and the Educational Psychologist, specifying the accommodations needed.
- Providing Documentation: Reasonable documentation from a qualified medical provider is required, and parents are encouraged to include results from any external assessments.
After receiving the documentation, the school may arrange a meeting with the family to discuss potential accommodations. The determination of accommodations is made on a case-by-case basis, ensuring they align with the student's individual needs without altering the fundamental nature of the school's programs.
Support Services
The Pegasus School offers:
- A formalized Pegasus Education Plan (PEP) for documenting accommodations.
- Access to learning specialists who provide targeted support.
