My student wants to opt out of Inclusive Access for one specific class because the professor said the textbook isn’t needed, but they don’t want to accidentally opt out for their other courses. Is opt-out handled per class, and how can they confirm they’re only opting out of that one? Thank you in advance
Students at Ohio State University can manage their Inclusive Access (CarmenBooks) opt-out process on a per-course basis through CarmenCanvas. This allows them to opt out of materials for one class while remaining enrolled in others.
Opting Out Process To opt out of a specific course, the student should:
- Log in to CarmenCanvas.
- Navigate to the course they wish to opt out of.
- Click on the CarmenBooks tab or a similar link in the course navigation menu.
- Find the materials for that course and click the Opt Out button, usually located in the upper right corner.
- Confirm their decision when prompted.
- Check the CarmenBooks dashboard for the course, which should display "Opted-Out" status.
- Review other courses in CarmenCanvas to confirm they remain "Opted-In".
- Monitor their MyOHIO Student Center for any billing adjustments after the opt-out is processed, typically occurring automatically after the deadline.
