We’re hearing about the reported Taylor Tower flood and saw some dramatic photos/videos circulating. Has the university said whether residents won’t be able to return after break, and if so, what’s the plan for temporary housing and move-in logistics?
Ohio State University has confirmed that Taylor Tower will not reopen for the spring 2026 semester following a major pipe failure that caused extensive flooding and damage to the building's infrastructure.
Resident Options
All 762 residents have been contacted and given two primary options:
- Relocation: Move to other available spaces within OSU's housing inventory.
- Contract Cancellation: Cancel their spring housing contract for a full refund.
Temporary Housing and Logistics
For those needing immediate assistance:
- Short-Term Housing: Non-local students can stay at Raney House and Bowen House on North Campus.
- Item Retrieval: Students must coordinate with the Taylor Tower front desk to retrieve their belongings, with specific times scheduled through the housing portal once new housing options are selected.
