Have an incoming transfer student for this upcoming spring and was wondering if NYU would take his calculus credits from his previous university for calculus at cas, he has credit from his previous state university for calc 1 and 2 and was hoping to take calc 3 this upcoming semester. Thx you!
As an incoming transfer student, your credits for Calculus I and II from an accredited state university will generally be accepted by NYU, provided you earned a grade of C or better. This eligibility allows you to register for Calculus III in the upcoming spring semester.
Credit Transfer Process
To ensure that your credits are recognized, follow these steps:
- Submit Official Transcripts: Have your previous university send your final official transcripts directly to the NYU Office of Admissions at admissions@nyu.edu.
- Review Transfer Credit Report: After matriculation, check your Transfer Credit Report in NYU Albert to see how your credits are applied.
- Contact Math Department Advisors: Reach out to the appropriate advisor based on your last name:
- A–M: Adam Staszczuk (adamstas@cims.nyu.edu)
- N–Z: Jackie Tucciarone (jt4787@nyu.edu)
- Provide Course Materials: Be ready to submit syllabi and course descriptions to demonstrate equivalency.
- Courses must have been completed within the last 10 years.
- If your transfer credits are approved, you will be exempt from the Math Diagnostic exam.
