Photography club? My student is trying to find a photography club on campus but can’t seem to locate an active one. The only group they found is called FOCUS, but it looks inactive (last update was in 2019). Does anyone know if there’s a current photography club or group that’s actually active?
If your student is seeking an active photography club at New York University, they will find several vibrant options beyond the FOCUS club, which has not updated since 2019.
Active Photography Organizations
- ISO Magazine: A student-run biannual publication that showcases photography and creative writing, providing a platform for students to engage with the art form.
- Baedeker: This publication focuses on travel photography and storytelling, allowing students to share their visual narratives.
- Future Imagemakers Workshop: Operated by the Tisch Department of Photography & Imaging, this workshop emphasizes image-making and social justice, serving as a central hub for photography activities.
- CommClub: Although not exclusively for photography, this club encourages students to share their original content, including photographic projects.
Students can explore these clubs through:
- NYU Engage: The official directory for university clubs where students can search for photography groups and request to join.
- Club Fest: An event held at the beginning of each semester where students can meet club representatives in person. The next Club Fest is scheduled for Spring 2026 at the Paulson Center.
- DPI Events: The Tisch department hosts exhibitions and receptions that provide networking opportunities for photography enthusiasts.
