My son is auditing a class this semester and wants it officially listed on their transcript. Their advisor said this can be done by enrolling as an auditor through Albert, but didn’t explain the steps. Does anyone know how to register as an auditor in Albert or what the process looks like?
To officially list the audited course on your son's transcript, he must follow specific steps outlined by NYU.
Obtain Permission He must first secure written approval from both the course instructor and his academic advisor.
Register for the Course He should register for the class through the Albert Student Center following the standard enrollment procedures.
Submit the Audit Request
- For CAS (College of Arts and Science): Submit a signed add/drop form to the Office of the Registrar with "register as auditor" noted in the special processing section.
- For Stern/Steinhardt/Tandon: After registering, complete an Audit Request Form and submit it to the respective Office of Records and Registration (e.g., registrn@stern.nyu.edu or steinhardt-registration-and-advisement-group@nyu.edu).
Important Considerations
- Audited courses do not count toward degree requirements or GPA calculations.
- Once the decision to audit is processed, it cannot be changed back to for-credit after the deadline.
