Hi my son is transferring in, do they do hot lunch or is it mostly packed lunch? And how do you set up lunch accounts if there is one?
At Claire Lilienthal Elementary, your son will have access to a daily hot lunch program as part of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). This program provides free meals to all students under the "California Meals for All" initiative, which includes one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day, regardless of household income.
Hot Lunch Options
- The meals are nutritionally balanced and include a main entrée, whole fruits, vegetable sides, and optional milk.
- Students can also bring packed lunches from home and are allowed to take supplemental items from the cafeteria, such as milk or fruit, to complement their meal.
To manage lunch options and dietary preferences, you will need to set up an account on SchoolCafé:
- Visit SchoolCafe.com or download the SchoolCafé app.
- Select "CA-California" and then "San Francisco USD" as your district.
- Create an account using the same email as your ParentVUE account.
- Add your son by entering his SFUSD Student ID number and last name.
- Complete the Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) to support school funding and potential benefits.
- Set dietary preferences if necessary, and check the SFUSD Online Menu regularly to decide on hot lunch versus packed lunch days.
