What clubs are there? Our student is really into mech e and aerospace. Is there something for this?
Harvard-Westlake provides a variety of clubs that align with interests in mechanical engineering and aerospace, making it an excellent environment for students passionate about these fields.
Engineering-Focused Clubs
- Robotics Club: This club serves as a primary hub for mechanical engineering enthusiasts, with competitive teams participating in the VEX V5 Robotics Competition and FIRST Robotics competitions (FRC Team 1148).
- Rocketry Club: Specifically dedicated to aerospace engineering, this club focuses on the principles of propulsion and rocketry.
- Computer Science Club: While primarily focused on programming, this club also covers software engineering, which is crucial for modern mechanical and aerospace systems.
- Flight Club: This club is ideal for students interested in aviation and the mechanics of flight.
Students can also engage in academic competitions like Science Bowl and Science Olympiad, which often include engineering challenges. To get involved, students can sign up during the Activities Fair or check the Daily Bulletin for meeting details. If a specific interest is not represented, students have the option to start their own club by applying to the administration.
