hey all! Are there common second-semester ‘surprise costs’ at CdM (AP exam fees, sports fees, club dues, etc.) we should budget for
As the second semester approaches at Corona del Mar High School, families should be aware of several potential costs that may arise unexpectedly.
AP Exam Fees For the 2026 testing season, AP exam fees range from approximately $105 to $125 per exam, with registration deadlines from January 20 to March 2, 2026. Late registrations incur a $40 fee, but financial aid is available for eligible students, reducing costs to as low as $20 to $53 per exam if applications are submitted on time.
Athletic Contributions While California law prohibits mandatory fees for sports, many teams request suggested contributions to cover uniforms and travel expenses. Costs for spring sports typically arise in February and March.
Club Dues and Events Membership dues for clubs, especially competitive teams or honor societies, may also require mid-year payments for events or competitions. Additionally, transportation costs for bus passes are due by late November or early January, which should also be factored into budgeting plans.
