My daughter is a sophomore at Chapman and just got offered a spring semester internship in Irvine that runs 3 days/week. She currently lives in Henley Hall and has a meal plan. If she moves off campus mid-year to be closer to the internship, what are the exact steps and deadlines for (1) getting released from her housing contract, (2) adjusting her meal plan, and (3) updating her aid package
Your daughter can successfully transition to off-campus living for her internship by following these steps:
Housing Contract Release To be released from her housing contract, she must:
- Submit a License Release Request Form to reslife@chapman.edu.
- Include a personal letter explaining her internship and supporting documents, such as the internship offer letter.
- Since the priority deadline of December 1, 2024, has passed, she should contact Residence Life at (714) 997-6603 to inquire about a late petition.
- Submit her request via Chapman email to reslife@chapman.edu or visit the Residence Life office.
- The deadline for changes to the meal plan is February 23, 2026. She can switch to a Commuter Meal Plan or cancel her plan entirely.
- Notify the Office of Financial Aid by submitting the Request for Revision Form as soon as her housing release is confirmed.
- Be aware that moving off campus may reduce her aid eligibility, particularly if she currently receives an On-Campus Housing Grant.
