My twin sister and I were just accepted to ASU as international undergrads. She’ll be at Tempe and I’ll be at Polytechnic. Is it possible for me to live in a Tempe dorm with her and commute to Polytechnic for classes, or am I required to live on the Polytechnic campus because of my major?
Congratulations on your acceptance to Arizona State University! As a first-year international undergraduate student, you will typically need to live on the campus associated with your major, which in your case is the Polytechnic campus.
Housing Requirements
- First-year students are expected to reside on their major's campus to foster a specialized residential community. Since your major is at Polytechnic, you will be assigned to housing there.
- The housing portal will primarily show you dorm options linked to your academic college at Polytechnic, limiting your ability to choose Tempe dorms.
- While living in a Tempe dorm is generally not an option for first-year students, you may request an exemption from the on-campus living requirement for specific circumstances, such as living with family.
- If you opt to live off-campus, you could potentially find an apartment in Tempe with your sister, but this would mean missing out on the residential college experience that ASU promotes for first-year students.
