Are there any lgbtq communities or clubs on-campus? Trying to help my daughter find some sense of community as shes a transfer. Thank you so much
Arizona State University (ASU) offers a rich array of LGBTQIA+ communities and clubs that can help your daughter find a sense of belonging as a transfer student.
LGBTQIA+ Organizations
The Rainbow Coalition serves as the umbrella organization for many LGBTQIA+ student groups, including:
- Identity-Specific Groups: TransFam (for transgender and non-binary students) and ASpec Alliance (for asexual and aromantic students).
- Professional & Academic Groups: oSTEM (for STEM majors), LGBT-Birds+ (Global Management), and OUTLaw (for law students).
- Campus-Specific Clubs: Prism (Polytechnic), Spectrum (West Valley), and Confetti (Downtown Phoenix).
- Social & Advocacy Groups: Qmunity (general social club), Gamma Rho Lambda (multicultural queer sorority), and Barrett LGBTQ+ Club (for honors students).
Your daughter can easily join these communities by:
- Using Sun Devil Central to browse and join clubs.
- Attending Welcome Events during the first weeks of the semester to meet club members.
- Participating in Pride Week, which features various events and networking opportunities.
- Joining Rainbow Connections, a mentorship program that connects LGBTQ+ students with faculty and staff.
