How do financial aid disbursements work? And what happens if one will be late?
Financial aid disbursements at Arizona State University (ASU) typically begin approximately eight days before the semester starts. The aid is first applied to any outstanding university charges, such as tuition and fees, and if there is a remaining balance, it is refunded to the student no sooner than three days before classes commence.
Disbursement Process
- Automatic Application: Aid is automatically applied to university charges.
- Credit Refunds: Any excess funds are refunded via direct deposit or check.
- Payment Methods:
- Direct Deposit: Funds appear in your bank account a few days post-disbursement.
- Check: Mailed to your address if not enrolled in direct deposit.
If your financial aid is late, consider the following:
- Pending Tasks: Check for uncompleted items in My ASU that may delay disbursement.
- Enrollment Requirements: Ensure you meet the credit hour requirements for your awards.
- Holds: Look for any holds on your account that could be causing delays.
